“梅一輪 一輪ほどの あたたかさ”  服部嵐雪
Ume ichirin, ichirin hodono atatakasa
written by Ransetsu Hattori(1654-1707)

Meaning:
On early spring or the end of winter, the ume brossom brooms one by one.
When the new one brooms, it felt as bringing us spring a little bit. It felt as bringing us warmth of spring a little bit.

Ume brossom symbolized coming of spring for Japanese people.
This haiku expresses Japanese people’s affection for ume brossom very exactly.
