Mallard is most common wild duck species in Japan. Its Japanese name is “Ma-gamo”. “Ma” express it is very common species and gamo or kamo means a duck. This bird is distributed broad part of north hemisphere. In Japan, it is migrated in winter. Since ancient times, “Ma-gamo” has been game for hunting.
