Nikujaga is the Japanese style of stew with meat, potatoes, and onion which sweetened soy sauce.

It is popular food for Japanese and often considered as “mother’s home cooking” (“ofukuro no aji” in Japanese). It can be easily cooked in your country so long as you can get soy sauce, sake and mirin. It is also good dish to learn the concept of the Japanese flavor.
